Evaluation

Overall I am very happy with my two trend boards, I liked the fact that there wasn't many pictures on my boards so it wasn't packed with pictures or over crowded so the pictures that were on there did stand out and were very appealing. I think my trend boards have came out just how I expected and I believe that my trend boards give a clear message of what the trend actually is by the different use of pictures I have used.

I was happy with my final styling boards too, however when it came to printing them, they didn't come out very clear and it was quite disappointing that they didn't come out perfect as I had tried really hard to make my boards perfect, but when I printed them, neither of them looked very good, as all the pictures were a little blurry/fuzzy.

I was pleased with my two trends, I am glad that I picked the two trends that I did and overall I thought my shoots and my edited pictures came out really good, I think if I did get the opportunity to do this task again, I would attempt to do my shoot in the studio as I think the pictures probably would of came out better if they was in a studio rather than a garden and the lighting would have been a lot better in the studio.

Style board for bright frenzy

This is my final 'Bright Frenzy' styling board, I added the same title to this board as I did with my trend board, but I changed the colour as I thought yellow went better with this board. I didn't put to many photos on this board either as I didn't want it to be over crowded as when I did my research into boards, I found that the crowded boards were harder to look at, and not every picture was noticed, so by just having the three photos that I liked I thought this was a better idea that having lots of photos that I didn't really like.

Style board for wild jungle

This is my final 'Wild Jungle' style board, I added the title so my trend board and styling board had something that made them look the same, so they connect. I only picked two pictures for this board, as I was really pleased with these two pictures and I didn't want to ruin the board by adding to many photos and take the attention of the good photos.

Final Wild Jungle trend board

This is my final 'Wild Jungle' trend board, I did a colour palette for this board too as I really liked my other colour palette on my other board. I also added a big bold title for the board, so it was clear what the name of the trend was, I put an even amount of zebra print and leopard print pictures on my board, I added pictures I took myself, history pictures, furniture, clothes and accessories.

Bright frenzy final trend board

This is my final trend board, I made the colour palette this time properly, by using the actual colours from the pictures I had got from various places. I created boxes and then used a tool on photoshop to click on one of the images to get the actual colour to appear in the box. So I was really happy with my new colour palette as it matched the actual colours on my board. I also wanted a range of different pictures on my board, so I took a picture myself of a jacket for the board, and I also found fashion clothing images from pinterest and google image for my board. I got pictures of nails as well because I didn't want my board just to be fashion based, and I wanted the main trend to be obvious to the viewer.

Final edited shots for bright frenzy trend

These are my edited shots for my 'Bright Frenzy' styling shoot, I was very pleased with the edited pictures, and I now had to decide which photos would look best on my styling board. I changed the saturation, and the levels, to brighten the photos to make them stand out more and to make the neon clothing become the main focus of the photo.

Final edited shots for wild jungle trend

These are the three final shots that were my favourite, so I had edited these in photoshop to make them look better, and compared to the pictures before they had been edited I thought they looked a lot better and more professional. I was really pleased with my final pictures.

Photo shoot for bright frenzy trend

The 'Bright Frenzy' trend was also set in my garden the same as my other shoot, I did both the shoots at the same time, with the same set, but I did change the hair styles and accessories to suit each trend.

I was really happy with my
shoot, it turned out a lot better than my test shoot I did, I thought the lighting was a lot better, however I will edit some of the pictures that I want to use for my final shoot, to make them look brighter and the lighting look more professional.

Photo shoot for wild jungle trend

I did my 'Wild Jungle' trend set in my garden, some against the wall and some against the fence, I tried to make the background as plain as possible so the attention wouldn't get taken off the clothing, which is the main focus of this shoot.

I was really happy with my pictures that I took, but I was planning to edit some of the final pictures that I was going to use on my style board, on photoshop to make the shoots look brighter, and more suitable for the theme that I wanted to use.

Kate moss

Kate Moss was spotted with a faux fur 'shawl' on, early on in a blog I mentioned about faux fur clothing as I had spotted the trend becoming popular on high street shops and also on WGSN, WGSN predict is to become popular during A/W 13/14, by spotting celebrities in it means the trend has probably already started, as most trends start on catwalks then to celebrities, and then into high street stores.

Kate Middleton

Since becoming the princess' Kate has been in the public eye a lot and her fashion has become a big part of our magazines. Everything she is photographed in, is put in a magazine or online, a lot of people have become inspired by her choice of fashion and she now has a lot of fans that will buy similar clothing to her that she is pictured in.

As she is now pregnant, everyone is a lot more interested in what she is wearing, and how she is styled and whether she looks nice in what she is wearing, especially pregnant women will be interested in her look. Maternity clothing will probably become more popular as Kate's clothing will be listed and so will the shop and similar clothing, so people will tend to go our and buy similar clothing so they look as good in it.

The percentage of pregnant women has risen since Kate has announced she is pregnant, so the baby clothing sales are expected to rise.

I found this page from the vogue website, which mentions a little about Kate and her fashion.

Leopard print on celebrities

Sarah Jessica Parker was spotted in a leopard print scarf to spice up her plain outfit, the scarf adds some fashion/spark to her outfit. By seeing celebrities in a certain trend in magazines and on the Internet inspires people to go out and buy the item so they look like the celebrity and have similar clothes to them. So by leopard print being spotted on celebrities already it means the trend has already started, and soon will be in the high street stores and soon to be on everyone's 'to buy' list.

Photo shoot plan

I have done a test shoot in the neon clothing, in my house to see what the model and the clothing looked like, I was very happy with the look and the clothing. I wasn't happy with the lighting though and after doing some photographer research and finding Dan Kennedy's work I decided I wanted to take the pictures outside with a plan background, but not in a studio I wanted the background to be natural like a fence or a brick wall but I didn't want it to be to detailed as I didn't want the background to take the focus of the clothing, so I wanted the background to be quite neutral.
I decided it would be a good idea to take the pictures in my garden; some along my shed and some along the wall along the side of the house.

I will use the same model as I did in the test shoot and all the same clothing which I have ordered of a website and some of the clothing is from mine and my models wardrobes, but I have ordered some of it particularly for this shoot.

Dan Kennedy

Dan Kennedy is a famous fashion photographer, who's work I really like, I looked at some of his work on his website and really enjoyed looking at it. I wanted to get some inspiration from photographers so I could get some ideas of where I could start when taking my pictures. I new my pictures wouldn't look as professional as Dan Kennedy's work but I did want to get some inspiration from his work.

His work was all different, but I was focusing on the pictures that were more about the clothing, I noticed that a lot of his shots did have backgrounds but they were pretty basic so it didn't take the focus of the model and the clothing.

WILD JUNGLE

I did the same for this trend board as I did for my other board, I just designed a rough trend board so I could get an idea of how I wanted it to look and what pictures I could use. I annotated around the trend board again and noted all the things I wanted to change and what I didn't like.

BRIGHT FRENZY

I wanted to design a trend board so I could get an idea of how it would look, and how I wanted to lay it out. Once I designed a board on illustrator and was happy with it, I printed it off to see what it actually looked like, I then annotated my board and wrote around the side what I want to change about my board.

Once I printed my board I noticed a lot of things that I didn't actually like and didn't look professional, and to the standards I wanted it to look.

I took note of everything I wanted to change and I will edit my board on illustrator and try to find better images that will give a better feel and go with my trend.

cultural brailing

This sheet about cultural brailing in class helped me out a lot when it come to identifying trends. This method shows step by step how you can write about identifying a trend. I found this really helpful, as when I saw a trend that I liked, I looked back at this method and broke it down, to help me write some information about the trend I was talking about.

Customer Profile for Wild Jungle

The 'Wild Jungle' trend is based on animal print patterned clothing, where the clothing is tight fitted, the clothing will be most suitable for evening wear, but could also be acceptable for a formal workwear. This trends target audience is 18-30 year olds, older people would wear this type of clothing, but it is best suited for this age range. The customer will usually be in a job and earning reasonable money, so they can afford to buy clothing that they don't necessarily need. The customer would usually shop in shops like TopShop, River Island, Zara and all the top end high street stores, they also like to keep up to date with the current fashion trends, they like to read magazines so they can be up to date with all the celebrities and fashion news, they are very fashion conscious people and care about their appearance.

Customer Profile for Bright Frenzy

The 'bright frenzy' trend. is based on neon coloured clothing, the clothing is more of a sporty look, as it includes disco pants and crop tops, so its more casual clothing than evening wear.
My target audience for this trend is girls aged between 16-21 so it doesn't have a big age range but neon colours would only be suitable for certain ages, and by having a smaller target market means I can be more specific. The customer would shop in shops like H&M, Republic and online shops like Miss-guided and Boohoo, all these shops sell reasonable priced items and are usually cheaper than other high street shops like topshop and river island. The customer are also students or just starting out in a job, but they aren't very well-off yet, so they don't earn much money to be spending on clothes and this trend will have good priced items so it is affordable for its target market.

animal print

My animal print trend was bodycon and fitted clothing which was tight and would show of the models figure, I thought I would call this trend 'WILD JUNGLE' as the animal prints that are included in my trend are animals from the wild/jungle, and when I looked at the clothing I was going to use for my shoot, it reminded me of a jungle. I think by the trend being called 'wild jungle' when people first look at the name of the trend they will automatically realise that the trend is to do with animal prints.

Neon History

The neon colour first started in 1910 and become very popular for 'neon signs' in America during 1920 to 1960 and then in the 1980s was when the clothing become popular. Lately the neons have started to become more popular, as neon crop tops have started to appear during the winter, and according to WGSN the catwalks show that neons are going to be a big hit next A/W too, the neons have come back into fashion slowly and I think by next year they will be a good trend.

Pinks

On WGSN they had a special colour section, of colour forecasts for A/W 14/15 and I wanted to see if neons were going to be popular as I wanted to focus on neons for one of my trends. The colours did include some really bright colours, which included bright pinks which I really liked and would match my neon theme.

I got some pictures of WGSN of some pink clothing that would fit in with my 'neon' theme.
